Everyone knows the timeless and tragic story of how Superman was sent to Earth by his parents, Jor-El and Lara, just before the planet Krypton’s catastrophic explosion. Now, one of today’s most popular science fiction authors, Kevin J. Anderson, presents a sweeping tale of Jor-El and Lara’s struggle to convince a disbelieving society that their world is about to end.
To lend support to this epic tale, Harper Collins’ mass market edition of THE LAST DAYS OF KRYPTON has a spectacular hi-definition lenticular cover. Combining motion and 3D special effects, Superman’s trademark shield can be seen bursting away from an exploding planet Krypton.
“We’re thrilled with the results! No question that lenticular effects have the power to stop consumers in their tracks and get them to pick the book up”, said VP/Art Director Tom Egner. “We’re already looking for our next lenticular cover project. It’s been a fantastic creative tool for us.”
National Graphics Inc. produced the special lenticular cover for Harper Collins using their patented ExtremeVision process. Advanced promotional covers distributed at last April’s Comic Con in New York City were snapped up quickly by savvy collectors with several finding their way on to eBay the following day.
THE LAST DAYS OF KRYPTON will be in stores on August 26. For “out of this world packaging”, enter the dynamic world of Extreme Vision lenticular printing.
