FAQ’s... Frequently Asked Questions about Extreme Vision Lithographic Lenticular Services

What Is It?

Simply put, Extreme Vision is a way to achieve drama and visual impact in an image by adding dimension and motion. Extreme Vision is National Graphics, Inc.’s patented lithographic lenticular process. Lenticular refers to combining a digitally interlaced image with a specially-designed ribbed plastic lenticular lens. Viewing the interlaced image through the lens causes the eye to “see” depth, motion or other effects. The result is dramatic, eye-catching and magical.

How Is It Used?

The possibilities are endless, but to name a few:
Labeling - Your bottled and packaged products will literally dance off the retail shelves!
Packaging - Encase your product with “Marketing Magic!”
In-Mold Decorating - Bring your products to life right out of the mold!
Drinkware - Quench consumers’ visual thirst!
Marketing Literature - Turn otherwise typical literature into a marketing event!
POS/POP - Displays and posters that catch shoppers’ eyes and truly demonstrate product features!
Products Integration - Hats to shoes, mousepads to buttons... Just about anything produced can integrate Extreme Vision!
Premiums - Unique, collectible incentives they’ll grab for!
And Much More... Let your imagination run wild!

What Can It Do?

Extreme Vision can deliver five different effects: Three-Dimension, Motion, Morph, Flip, and Zoom. Effects can be used alone or in any combination with each other.

Why Is National Graphics’ Extreme Vision Lenticular Process Better?

National Graphics is the world leader in lenticular technology. Our patented Extreme Vision processes deliver the highest quality printed lenticular products available. We’ve been solving visual impact needs for over 25 years. Extreme Vision products are our only business. Did you know that many lenticular printing companies license the Extreme Vision process from us? Why not come directly to the source of the technology?

Can the Backs Be Printed?

Yes. We can print single or multi-color printing on paper and mount it to the back of the lenticular. Or we can mount a printed or plain adhesive backer. Backs can also be screen-printed to give an opaque background.

Can Extreme Vision Lenticular Be Backlit?... Die Cut?

Yes.

Are There Size Restrictions?

Extreme Vision lenticular can be as small as a postage stamp or as large as a 26”-wide x 38”-high poster.

Can You See a Prototype First?

Yes. We make an actual working lenticular proof, so the customer can see what the printed product will look like.

What Are the Lead Times?

A prototype proof can be delivered in about seven to ten days after we receive artwork. Production, depending on the size, quantity and complexity of the job, takes about four weeks on average.

What Are the Costs?

Prototypes usually cost between $1,100 and $2,500. The cost of a production run depends on the size and quantity of the piece. In general, as the quantity increases, the cost per piece decreases. A ballpark or actual price can be provided if you can give us an idea of the intended use of the piece, the size, and the quantity that you need.

What Information Do You Need to Get Started?

We need to know:
How is the piece going to be used? Tipped onto a brochure? Inserted into a package? Handed out at trade shows? This helps us determine what the backer should be.
What effect does the customer want? This helps us determine the orientation of the lens.
What is the viewing distance... Arm’s length, or 6-foot poster view?
What is the size of the piece and the quantity needed? When giving the size, please be sure you clarify which dimension is the width and which is the height.
Will there be printing on the back? How many colors?
Any special finishing or packing requirements? Die cutting?
What is your time frame for receiving the proof? The production run?
Are there multiple versions?

What Do I Need to Supply?

We can work with almost any kind of artwork. For motion pieces, original videotape works well for pieces that measure 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” or smaller. Digital Betacam is preferred for the best-quality results. Computer-generated art also provides outstanding results. We can work in many applications, although layered Photoshop or Illustrator files are preferred. While most photographic images are acceptable, transparencies are preferred; or, for the most dramatic results, we can conduct an original photo shoot.
